Roofing Inspection
As your home’s most important component, proper evaluation of the roof is essential. We evaluate for the condition of roofing materials, shingles, tiles, TPO, flat roll roofing, flashing around roof transitions, chimneys, rooftop HVAC unit penetrations, vents and valleys, drip edges, downspouts and gutters.
Air Conditioning Inspection
In Florida, air conditioning systems are in operation for most of the year. A quality review of your system is important. We perform detailed HVAC evaluation which will assess the condition of your system. We test your system in all modes. If any unsatisfactory conditions are found, we will work to provide you with practical solutions.
Electrical System Inspection
Our team will provide you with a comprehensive review of your electrical system including the main service panel, sub-panels, electrical meter, grounding, location of your main shut off switch and GFCI/AFCI circuit protection throughout your house. We look for improper wiring, double tapped breakers, arcing, recalled service panels and “handyman” installations that can put you at risk.
Plumbing Inspection
Direct Inspections evaluates all visible components of your plumbing system including the main water shut off location, hot water heater (age, function, TPR, gas or electric supply), laundry hookups, hoses and drains, visible supply lines (and the type of piping used), visible waste lines and traps, sinks, toilets, showers, bidets, bathtubs and individual shut off valves. We can also coordinate septic and sewer-cam inspections to provide you with a more complete analysis.
Exterior, Grounds and Foundation Inspection
During the exterior & grounds inspection, we review sidewalks, driveways, retaining walls, lanai & pool cages, structurally attached decks, porches, porticos, balconies, railings, fences, gates, exterior walls and stairs, exterior outlets, trim, soffit, fascia, drip edge, hose bibs, gutters, downspouts, foliage touching the house, landscape sloping around house and visible areas of the foundation. We offer suggestions on how to preserve and maintain these areas so the outside of your home remains a healthy environment.
Interiors, Windows and Doors
We review the interior including entry doors, interior doors, French doors, pocket doors, screen doors and sliding glass doors for operation and hardware function. Windows, window locks, caulking, interior walls, flooring, ceilings, ceiling fans and presence of smoke detectors. We also evaluate fireplaces for major visible defects, cracks and damper operation.
Kitchen, Bath & Laundry
A comprehensive home checkup would not be complete without a review of the kitchen, baths and laundry. We inspect kitchen sinks, garbage disposals, dishwasher, cooktops, ovens, ventilation, built-in microwaves, cabinetry. In the bathrooms we review the sinks, toilets, ventilation, bathtubs, whirlpool tubs and showers. The laundry is evaluated for operation of washer & dryer, plumbing hookups, gas & electrical supply, dryer exhaust, laundry sink and plumbing.
Pool & Spa Inspection
Our evaluation of the pool includes a comprehensive review of the pool chemistry, filters, pumps, visible plumbing, heaters, auto-chlorinators, pool lights, pool decking for cracks that may have structural implications, pool cage, anchor bolts, truss screws, screens, screen doors, gutter attachment. Keeping your pool water chemistry balanced will add years of life to your pool surface. Highly acidic or imbalanced water can rapidly deteriorate the liner. We also provide you with professional contacts to keep your pool in excellent operating condition.
FLIR Thermal Imaging
You can’t correct what you don’t detect. Direct Inspections has invested in FLIR’s latest Infrared Imaging technology to provide you with today’s equivalent of X-Ray vision. Heating/Cooling loss, moisture damage and overheating electrical components are only the beginning of what our camera can detect. This technology was originally developed for military applications and is now available for commercial use. Upon request, we provide an infrared scan as a free service to our customers.
